A girl named Coco said she was among the trapped passengers.
“I was on the train just now and it was dark inside,” she told the media. “The train stopped and the lights were turned on. We were sitting … It was not very steep. Some children were crying.”
She said staff asked them to wait for help through a broadcast system.

Disneyland apologised to affected visitors.
It said that at around 3pm, a guest boarding delay halted a train at Hyperspace Mountain from departing as scheduled, triggering the control system to stop the ride as a safety measure.
Guests were immediately evacuated from the facility and no injuries reported, it added.
“One of the vehicles, carrying 12 passengers, was stopped in a position requiring fire department assistance based on established protocols,” a Disneyland spokesman said.

All passengers self-evacuated the vehicle at around 4.15pm, he added, and emphasised the park “apologises to all guests affected by the incident”.
The park said the attraction had been suspended promptly for comprehensive checking and would resume operation once the inspection was completed.
“Safety is always a top priority at Hong Kong Disneyland,” it noted.
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department said it was investigating the incident and that it had ordered Disneyland submit a report.
The department said, based on a site inspection, it appeared a safety mechanism was triggered after delays in the loading and unloading area.
The mechanism was activated and stopped all trains on the track from entering the area.
The department said Disneyland followed the operational procedures by asking the Fire Services Department for assistance before arranging for the passengers to leave the roller coaster.
Department officials said Disneyland would be allowed to resume operation of the ride after its safety was confirmed.
Visitors who wanted to try the roller coaster later were told by staff it was out of service.
Disappointed visitors included Chongqing mother Xin Shunhua, 40, and her two children. She said the family had been regular visitors to the park for six years but her daughter and son had never tried Hyperspace Mountain. Xin said the incident would not put them off.
“The malfunction was random, and I trust Disneyland on safety.”
Visitor Jason Zhou, 40, from Hainan province, said he and his three relatives were likely to try the ride if it reopened on Thursday, as they had two-day passes and would not let “one small incident” put them off.
The park’s website described the ride, in the Tomorrowland area, as a “reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction” with a Star Wars theme. Visitors who are 102cm or taller can ride it.

The attraction would be temporarily closed from February 26 to March 1 for routine maintenance and inspection, it said.
The incident was the second of its kind at the resort this week after the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars roller coaster stopped mid-ride on Tuesday as confirmed by Disneyland.
“It’s the safety measure causing the ride to stop. No injuries involved,” a Disneyland spokeswoman said. “It is not a safety issue.”
The Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars in 2017 was reported to have ground to a halt twice in four days because of a sensor malfunction.
No injuries were reported among the 48 and 72 passengers respectively involved in the incidents.
The same ride was said to have had another stoppage in 2020. More than 10 visitors were trapped on board, but no injuries were reported.
