Dr Murad vitamin C infusion facial

Yes. A cleanse and tone with vitamin C-packed products is followed by a mask that sucks out impurities. It may seem tingly at the time, but your skin feels fresh afterwards. There's also a shoulder, arm, neck and head massage and a good moisturise at the end.

Did your skin look any different afterwards?

It did seem cleaner and softer. A few days later, there was a marked difference in skin tone. It was less grey and sallow and looked as if it had had a boost.

What's the spa like?

Owner Annie Fung wanted to emulate Australian and New Zealand spas when she opened last month. She's a fan of Victorian furniture, so the spa is fresh and crisp, with lots of crafted wood. There are three treatment rooms in the 1,300sqft space, so you don't feel cramped. Nice touches include music that's more moody-jazz than new agey, ultra-fluffy towels, and stylish finishes. Extra points go to the staff, who are friendly and give good tips about how to care for your skin afterwards.

What other treatments does the spa offer?

It's fitted out with a Vichy shower, which is the equivalent of having a hot shower while lying down. The splashing water is supposed to relax your muscles and soothe your mind. There's also a Huna Hawaiian massage, which is said to date back 5,000 years. You're massaged to the sound of Hawaiian music by a therapist with expertise in Reiki.

Is it expensive?

The Murad facial is $795 for one hour, and the Huna Hawaiian massage costs $1,050 for 90 minutes. The Vichy Experience is $380 for 30 minutes.

Where is it?

1/F, 8 Gilman's Bazaar, Central, tel: 2815 5590. The spa is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-9pm
